All Navy ships have their own sewerage system that treats sewage on the vessel. When ships are berthed the system is connected to shore and the sewage is pumped into trucks and removed from site. All operations are in accordance with International and National standards for sewage treatment on vessels. There is no sewerage treatment system on Garden Island.
