WOOLLOOMOOLOO CAR PARK REPAIRS TO SEWER, STORM WATER PITS & CONNECTIONS
7November2011
To prevent future flooding of the Woolloomooloo Car Park and the neighbouring area, contractors for Defence Brookfield and MCD Hydraulics are undertaking repairs works to the sewer services and replacement of the main external in-ground stormwater service pipe work. The works involve: 1) cleaning of pipe work with high pressure water blasting equipment 2) removal and disposal of built up vegetation and debris from the internal stormwater pits 3) the removal of a number of existing trees along the Northern boundary of Commonwealth Property. A consultant arborist has been employed to ensure that the tree removal works are conducted in an appropriate manner and to ensure that the trees and surrounding root mass are removed without having a detrimental effect to surrounding trees. All trees that are removed will be replaced. The area has been sealed off from the public via barricades and temporary security fencing. A pedestrian footpath will be maintained throughout the works. Works on the stormwater pipe work have commenced. The works involving excavation and tree removal will commence on Monday, 28 November 2011 and should be completed by the end of January 2012.
